Cultural Exchange
An holiday with something more. Since 1988 Summer University is the most famous Aegee project of international cultural exchange organized by students for students of all the faculties.
A Summer
University it is usually a two-week event organized by an AEGEE local when
between 25 and 60 students come together from all over Europe. From Spain to
Moldova, from Finland to
Malta
you will have the chance to meet more than 30 different nationalities, the
possibility to practice your languages skills, experience traditional food,
enjoy an European Night party, learn about other cultures.
The activities carried during a Summer University range from
academic activities: classes to learn a foreign language, different courses on
technical themes to multicultural activities: get familiar with Finnish culture,
photography or dance in Turkey, extreme sport in Poland, art in Serbia or
Russia, shoot a movie in Romania, sailing in the Netherlands, trekking in
Slovenia, canoe in Czech, archaeology in Greece…
More than 2500 students every summer go for an adventure somewhere in Europe, to learn about the language and culture of another country. More than 130 locals organise around 100 courses.
The idea at the base of this project is very simple: homogeneous groups of participant from 18 to 31 years coming from various parts of Europe chosen to make them live a beautiful experience, organized by other students. No agencies, no professionals, only friends that organize an event for other friends, only with the difference that they do not know each other. Summer University is a perfect holiday for the one who loves to depart alone, and to return back with a lot of friends.
Different kind of
Summer University

Language Course: It is a course of language of 2 weeks, minimum 16 hours of tuition for week.

Language Course Plus: It is an intensive course of language of 2 weeks, at least 20 hours intensive language tuition by professional teachers for week.

Summer Course: It is a course of 2 weeks about one specific topic dealing with the local culture, at least 10 hours tuition, often dealing with practice.

Summer Course Plus: : It is an intensive course about specific topics of general European interest. During the time of 2-4 weeks and supported by the university, participants receive at least 20 hours of tuition by professional lectures.

Traveling Summer University: It is organized by at least two AEGEE antennae. During the 2-4 weeks of cultural trips through Europe, the group stays in at least 4 different places.

The Summer University Booklet is the main information tool of the project. Usually ready in March it contains a detailed description of every Summer University taking. Each event carries an English description as well as a second language description. Based on the information provided in the booklet, AEGEE members can apply for a place.
